I&JPN Presents at i2Coalition Best Practices Speaker Series

On February 17, 2021, I&J Director, Domains & Jurisdiction Program, Elizabeth Behsudi participated in the i2Coalition Best Practices Speaker Series on Trust and Safety in the Domain Name System. Ms Behsudi shared key outcomes produced by the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, Domains & Jurisdiction Program Contact Group that address DNS Level Action to Address Abuses.

The Session explored how the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the registry and registrar communities, website hosting companies, and other service hosting groups, can work with law enforcement to ensure trust and safety in the DNS. The discussion focused on how to mitigate abuse broadly, with an eye toward focusing on measurement, action, and reporting.

Ms Behsudi highlighted the need for stakeholders to work together and shared an update of key outcomes prepared by the I&PN Domains & Jurisdiction Program Contact Group.

Over 30 senior-level global key actors from governments, internet companies, technical operators, civil society, leading universities, and international organizations, have worked together in the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network  Domains & Jurisdiction Program Contact Group to assist both Notifiers and DNS-Operators in reporting and remediating technical abuses and encourage legal interoperability.

“The I&J Outcomes apply policy development standards based on operational norms, operational criteria, operational mechanisms. These outcomes are part of a soon to be launched Toolkit on DNS Level Action to Address Abuses” said Ms Behsudi.
