Members of I&J Programs Contact Groups

Published on
November 5, 2019

The Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network has officially launched the 2019/2020 Contact Groups for its three policy Programs. Guided by the policy objectives set out in the Berlin Roadmap of the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network. The Contact Groups will be active for the period of October 2019 to June 2020, and address the following important transnational issues:

Data & Jurisdiction Program: Cross-border access to electronic evidence

Content & Jurisdiction Program:  Cross-border content moderation and restrictions

Domains & Jurisdiction: Cross-border DNS-level action to address abuses

Over 140 senior-level Members from 80 entities work together in these multistakeholder Contact Groups. Key global actors from governments, Internet companies, technical operators, civil society, leading universities and international organizations. Together they  enhance policy coherence and develop solutions for legal interoperability through joint development of Norms, Criteria, Mechanisms. Members have been selected by the Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network for their thought-leadership, expertise and experience to enable in-depth and ongoing interactions on the topics addressed.

The Contact Groups are tasked to build on the Operational Approaches Documents that were developed by each of the three Programs’ Contact Groups in 2018/19, and to find concrete ways to implement the Berlin Roadmap, which came out of the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network that gathered over 300 senior-level key stakeholders from more than 50 countries.

The Programs will be coordinated under the leadership of three newly appointed Directors of the I&J Secretariat: Han Soal Park (Director, Data & Jurisdiction Program), Frane Maroevic (Director, Content & Jurisdiction Program) and Elizabeth Behsidi (Director, Domains & Jurisdiction Program). Learn more about the new Program Directors here.

Discussions in each Program’s Contact Group will be facilitated and moderated by a neutral Coordinator appointed from the community of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network.
