On May 31, 2021 the Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network presented the I&JPN Toolkits on Cross-border access to Electronic Evidence, Cross-border Content Moderation and DNS Level Action to Address Abuses to the Virtual School of Internet Governance.

The Virtual School of Internet Governance is a free multi module  Massive Open Online Courseware (MOOC) dedicated to the key pillars of Internet Governance. The School provides a multilingual online training platform that allows novice and advanced students to learn the basics of Internet Governance (IG) in addition to learning to network globally, exchange information and improve their knowledge without any geographic or economic barrier.

The I&JPN Toolkits are the result of broad consultations with key policy actors since the 1st Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network in 2016, and the tireless work of governments, companies, international organizations, civil society, technical operators, and academics who have collaborated to develop interoperable solutions to Cross-border Access to Electronic Evidence, Cross-border content moderation and how to address abuse at the DNS level.

Sophie Tomlinson, Communications and Outreach Manager, provided an overview of the Network’s current activities and projects to encourage legal interoperability.

“International cooperation around internet governance is more necessary than ever because of the transnational issues we are confronted with. I&JPN is unique because it provides a forum where stakeholders can discuss very concrete issues and propose practical solutions” said Ms. Tomlinson.

Ajith Francis, Policy Programs Manager of I&JPN provided an overview of the three core legal challenges the Policy Network works to address and underscored key security dimensions.

“I&JPN addresses these concrete cross-border issues in order to develop multi stakeholder solutions to address abuses on the internet within a rights and due-process respecting framework” said Mr. Francis.
