I&JPN Referenced in United Nations General Assembly Economic and Social Council Report

The United Nations General Assembly Economic and Social Council has released a report on "Progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society at the regional and international levels Report of the Secretary-General" (A/75/62−E/2020/11), referencing the work of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network.

The report highlights major activities undertaken by stakeholders during 2019 with regards to the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and was prepared by the secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). 

The report references the work of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, including the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, the three Policy Programs of the organization (Data & Jurisdiction Program,Content & Jurisdiction Program and Domains & Jurisdiction Program), the launch of theInternet & Jurisdiction Global Status Report 2019 as well as the Retrospect Database tracking internet jurisdiction cases. 

The Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network held its third conference exploring issues of cross-border jurisdiction in relation to content, data and domains. It published a Global Status Report and maintains a database of relevant documentation.

The Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network was planned to hold a Special Session at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) eCommerce week on Monday April 27, 2020, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
