Responsibly unlocking the value of data for all

Since the release of the report “We Need to Talk About Data: Framing the Debate Around the Free Flow of Data and Data Sovereignty”, and building on its key messages and momentum, the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network has developed a concrete plan towards the incubation of the Datasphere Initiative, which was launched in April 5, 2022, at the event Responsibly unlocking the value of data for all”.

490 participants from 260+ organizations and 72 countries registered to the launch event. Check the participating entities here

The Datasphere can be defined as the ecosystem encompassing all types of data and the complex dynamics between data, human groups and norms.

Approaching the environment in which all digital data exists as a global Datasphere provides the fundamental perspective shift needed for the holistic multi-disciplinary approach that governing data for the public interest requires.

How we collectively govern the Datasphere will strongly determine the future of human society in the 21st century and our capacity to deal with major global challenges such as health, energy and climate change.
