Responding to the call of stakeholders engaged in the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, a one-day workshop on the Internet of Things will be organized in Berlin, Germany on April 15, 2019.

The Internet of Things (IoT) will soon consist of more than 30 billion connected devices and autonomous systems, but the current system of international legal cooperation is not yet adapted to deal with the transnational legal challenges that arise from this new technology.

This is why the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, supported by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology, organizes in partnership with Siemens a one-day workshop to gather a selection of senior-level representatives from governments, global IoT industry leaders, international organizations and civil society experts from around the world on April 15, 2019 in Berlin, Germany.

The meeting will help frame and foster a common understanding of the cross-border legal challenges with regards to the Internet of Things, explore the need for and benefits of multistakeholder coordination and cooperation, and explore potential avenues for developing operational solutions and policy standards to handle the new cross-border legal challenges at the nexus of the Internet of Things, AI, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Results of the meeting will be reported to the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, which takes place in Berlin, Germany, on June 3-5, 2019.
