Establishing Transnational Due Process and Transparency: the Need for Multistakeholder Cooperation
I&J organized the workshop Establishing transnational due process and transparency: the need for multistakeholder cooperation at the annual meeting of the Freedom Online Coalition in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on May 4, 2015.
The workshop was an opportunity to discuss the emerging transnational due process framework at the forum that gathers the 26 members of the intergovernmental coalition and other stakeholders participating in the conference. It highlighted the need for transnational due process procedures for requests regarding domain seizures, content takedowns and access to subscriber data. Moreover, it explored the synergies with the work of the Freedom Online Coalition’s Working Group 3 on Transparency and Privacy, which identified best practices in transparency reporting, as well as Working Group 2 on the Rule of Law, which raises questions regarding the exercise of national jurisdiction on the cross-border Internet.
