On October 22, 2018, I&J Director Bertrand de La Chapelle will participate in the Panel “Thematic Challenges in the Internet Governance Ecosystem – Cybercrime, Data Protection and Privacy”, at the ICANN63 High-Level Governmental Meeting (HLGM) in Barcelona, Spain, from October 20-25, 2018.


The session addresses the need to find solutions to common challenges concerning the balance between the privacy of individuals and the combat against cybercrime, the maintenance of human rights and the conservation of internet’s openness in an environment of increasing national and regional legislations.


The discussion will be moderated by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society. Other participants include Gregory Mounier, Head of Outreach and Prevention at Europol, and Theresa Swinehart, Senior Vice President of Multistakeholder Strategy and Strategic Initiatives at ICANN.
